I was so impressed with their story I decided to start selling their product!
They love toilet paper and toilet jokes. It's their way of making a difference. Since they started Who Gives A Crap in 2012, Simon, Jehan and Danny have made a difference in the world, actually they've put their butts on the line to improve living conditions and make the world a better place.
After learning that 2.4 billion people don't have access to a toilet these guys decided to make a difference. Roughly 40% of the global population which includes about 289,000 children under five who die every year from diarrheal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation.
They decided that was crap so they launched a campaign and Simon sat on a toilet and refused to move until they had raised enough pre-orders to start production. 50 hours and one cold bottom later, they had raised over $50,000.
Even though they are pleased that their pleasantly packaged paper is gracing bathrooms across the country their big pat on the butt in my opinion and the reason I decided to offer the product in my store is that they donate 50% (that's huge) to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world.
Stop and go back and re-read that last sentence!!!
I'm honored to offer their products and I carry the individual rolls in regular recycled as well as bamboo, 6 packs, and paper towels. Come check it out in person. While doing some research while writing this blog this is what I learned. On average regular non re-cycled toilet paper that is a national brand is on average .50 less to 1.40 cents higher in the 6 pack size. So it is not only a good deal it's also sustainable!
